What Kind of Services Does a Family Dentist Provide?

A good family dentist (or general dentist for that matter) will provide nearly all of the dental services your family may need for a lifetime. Following are descriptions of some of the most common services that you should expect your dentist to provide.

Dental Cleanings & Maintenance – You should visit your family dentist twice a year to have your teeth cleaned while also undergoing a quick examination of your teeth and gums to detect potential problems.

Teeth Whitening Treatments – These have become very popular in recent years and can be provided by your general dentist.

Fillings & Composite Fillings– Be sure your dentist offers composite fillings. These "tooth colored" fillings have set the standard in modern dentistry and are far superior compared to older methods of filling cavities in teeth.

Crowns – Dr. White uses crowns to cover a tooth and restore it to its normal shape and size. Crowns can be made from a variety of materials including metals, porcelain (for the most natural look possible) or other options that may be more cost-effective.

Bridges and Implant Crowns – Dental bridges are used to replace one or more missing teeth by “bridging the gap” between your natural teeth and those that are missing. This option is one of many options Dr. White has to offer.

Dentures – Modern dentures can be made to look completely natural, fit better and be more comfortable than older dentures.

A first-rate family dentist or general dentist should provide all of these basic services and more to help you maintain good oral health throughout your life.
